I’m Liam, an IT/OT Systems Engineer working where industrial automation meets enterprise IT. By day, I build and maintain industrial networks across a range of vendors and platforms, using industrial redundancy and ring-network protocols to keep production environments connected and resilient. ⚙️

On the IT side, I manage Windows Server and Active Directory environments along with the tooling around them — documentation, monitoring, and backup/recovery. I also spend a lot of my time in Linux, running virtualization and centralized logging. 🐧

My background is as cross-border as my curiosity: a trinational Bachelor’s degree spanning Réseaux et Télécommunications and a Licence EEA (Électronique, Énergie électrique et Automatique) in France, Allgemeine Informatik in Germany, and Systemtechnik in Switzerland. Networking, electronics, computer science, and automation, studied in three countries and three languages — which turned out to be ideal preparation for a career bridging IT and OT. 🎓

At home, things get properly serious. 🛠️ My homelab runs across multiple Proxmox clusters — always-on nodes plus on-demand enterprise servers — hosting dozens of VMs and containers across Windows Server and Linux.

Identity is fully centralized: a self-hosted Active Directory domain doubles as the RADIUS backend for network device logins and feeds a self-hosted OIDC provider with passkey and hardware-key authentication, giving single sign-on across more than a dozen internal apps. 🔐

The network is fully segmented, with high-speed trunking between independent switches, redundant internal DNS, and an enterprise-grade router handling routing and firewall policy. Storage sits on a NAS with mirrored pools, automated snapshots, a dedicated backup server, and off-site replication — because backups you haven’t tested aren’t really backups. 💾

This is also where my curiosity properly runs loose. I splice my own fiber, love getting hands-on with ISP and carrier-side networking like BGP and ASN management, and have a genuine soft spot for legacy telecom — ISDN, dial-up, and the quiet groundwork behind everything we now take for granted.
